About GeoFlames
The hard part of MWD is not the mechanical hardware. It is getting downhole data to surface complete and intact from several thousand metres down, through high temperature and pressure, severe vibration and constant mud erosion.
Dongying Huichen Petroleum Technology Development Co., Ltd. was founded in March 2015 with registered capital of RMB 20 million, in Dongying, Shandong — home of the Shengli oilfield. We manufacture, machine and supply precision instruments for directional drilling, logging and mud logging, with R&D, production and service all under one roof.
That capability rests on three things: sensor accuracy depends on the components and the calibration, throughput on the encoding and decoding algorithms, and endurance in sand-laden mud on materials and machining. All three are handled in-house.
Team structure
| Department | People | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Precision machining | 20 | Our largest department |
| Instrument R&D | 6 | Downhole electronics, firmware and tool design |
| Service & repair | 3 | Factory repair and field support |
| Stores | 1 | Spares and materials control |
95% of the team hold a college degree or above, including five technicians with more than ten years in the trade.
Who does what
Circuit design, software development and final assembly are done in-house; critical structural parts come from our own production line and from precision machine shops we have worked with for years; sales and service deal directly with directional drilling contractors and operators. On a technical question you talk to the people who designed and built the tool.
Working with others
We draw on resources beyond our own walls — government bodies, other companies, universities and research institutes — through public-private and industry-academia arrangements that pay off on both sides. The precision machining shop also takes outside work: technical consulting, prototype runs and contract machining, and is extending into aerospace, rail, new energy and medical instrumentation.
